What to buy
How the numbers are figured
Wall area is length × height, minus any openings. Bag counts divide that area by the coverage on an 80 lb bag, then round up. This page uses the low end of the published range so you are less likely to run short: about 20 square feet at 3/8 inch for scratch or brown, about 15 square feet at 1/2 inch, and about 70 square feet at 1/8 inch for a finish coat. 50 lb and 60 lb bags scale with weight. Texture, lath, and how wet you mix the bag will change the real coverage.
Scratch and brown are the same base-coat mix. Run the 3/8 inch option once for each of those coats, then switch to finish coat.
Common questions
How much does an 80 lb bag of stucco cover?
A scratch or brown base coat covers about 20 square feet at 3/8 inch, or about 15 square feet at 1/2 inch. A finish coat covers about 70 square feet at 1/8 inch. Texture and waste change the real number. Check the bag.
How many bags of stucco for 100 square feet?
At 3/8 inch, 100 square feet takes 5 bags of 80 lb base coat before waste, or 6 bags with 10% extra. The same wall takes 2 bags of 80 lb finish coat at 1/8 inch.
Do I need separate bags for scratch and brown?
Scratch and brown use the same base-coat mix. Pick the 3/8 inch base option, run it once per coat, then switch the menu to finish coat for the color layer.
