How the numbers are figured

Area is length × width. Bag counts divide that area by the coverage on a 40 lb bag of concrete resurfacer, then round up. A skim coat at about 1/16 inch covers about 90 square feet per bag. A 1/4 inch trowel coat covers about 17 square feet. 1/8 inch and 3/8 inch scale from the 1/4 inch rate. A 20 lb pail covers half as much as a 40 lb bag.

How much does a 40 lb bag of concrete resurfacer cover?

About 90 square feet at a 1/16 inch skim coat, or about 17 square feet at 1/4 inch. Thicker coats use more bags. Confirm the number on the bag you buy.

How many bags to resurface a 10×10 patio?

A 10 by 10 foot pad is 100 square feet. A 1/16 inch skim takes 2 bags of 40 lb mix before waste. A 1/4 inch overlay takes 6 bags.

Is resurfacer the same as regular concrete mix?

No. Resurfacer is a thin overlay on existing concrete. Regular mix is for new slabs. Use the slab calculator for a new pour.
